Lone Pine Hotel dates all the way back to 1948 when it was then a bungalow located along the Batu Ferringhi beach and was turned into a family-run hotel with a total of 10 rooms, all of which are still there today. Dr Albert, the owner mistook the casuarina tree that stood there and named the place “Lone Pine”. Even today, the lawn of the hotel is surrounded by tall casuarina trees, providing a familiar sight to returning guests and a new charm to first-time guests. Its colonial ambience and idyllic charm has made Lone Pine Hotel one of Penang’s legendary hotels.
