One cannot spell out Penang without its famous Teochew chendul. Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul is no stranger to fellow Penangites and Malaysians alike as throngs of people gather at this roadside stall for a bowl of refreshing chendul on a hot day. Founded by Tan Teik Fuang, he believed that his business would help make a living for his family. By 1977, Mr Tan’s sixth son, Tan Chong Kim fully took over the business and improved it by continuously developing the quality of the product while maintaining its authenticity and providing friendly service. As the years went by, Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul went from a roadside Chendul stall to Penang asam laksa, to rojak, and even opening Chendul outlets and more.
