At East Manhattan, the team believes in serving quality food in a chic environment with warm and friendly service. Its owner, John Wee has had a strong passion for baking ever since he was young. He was often seen in the kitchen whipping up kuehs, curry puffs, and cakes. He spent a sabbatical in Manhattan, New York city, after leaving his job and spent a year learning the fine art of classic American baking. He eventually returned to Singapore and formed East Manhattan Bakery, serving artisanal bread, tarts, and cakes.
