Janggut Laksa is also endearingly referred to as the original Katong laksa since the 1950’s. It was founded by Mr Ng Juat See who was well known as Janggut (beard). He had an iconic signature look of selling laksa while carrying his pole with metal buckets hung over his shoulders and can be found at the Marine Parade beach area. In order to make the noodles more convenient for consumption, the noodles are cut short and eaten with spoons which was a trademark for Katong Laksa. Over the years, they have expanded their business into what it is today and is still well loved by many.
