Founded by Master Teo Yew Chye in 2008, Kapap Academy is a humble fight school that lives by a motto of ‘empowering ordinary people to learn realistic self defence skills’. Master Teo was motivated to start the academy in memory of his deceased brother who fell victim to an attack, offering individuals a variety of martial arts and self-defence classes such as Kapap Combatives, American Catch Wrestling, Gracie Combatives, Dynamic Combat Method, and Modern Street Combatives. The centre also teaches MMA legend Bas Rutten’s stand up fight system and hybrid Pilates boxing interval training classes, known as Piloxing. All classes are conducted by experienced instructors well-versed in their own discipline; Master Teo himself has over 30 years of experience and has tutored under Tony Cecchine, an American catch wrestler. Fighters with the eye of the tiger can find the academy located eight minutes away from Aljunied MRT station.
