Bearing a sense of nostalgia at the mention of its name, the family-owned business has been serving citizens of Singapore authentic Hokkien cuisine since its inception in 1965. Since then, the business was passed down from father to son and Mr Tan Junior has striven to expand his family’s food empire by moving to bigger locations, finally settling down at its Joo Chiat location in 2003. At the restaurant, chefs skilled in the art of Oriental culinary mastery equip kitchens with woks, skillets, and blazing flames as they prepare signature dishes of Hokkien mee alongside zichar dishes, and specialty items like black pepper crab in a hot pot and Kim’s fish maw soup.
